On May 31, First Baptist Church will gather again at 12th and Tyler for worship. While we are excited about opening our doors and resuming on-site worship, we have established the following guidelines to ensure the safest possible experience.
High Risk Categories
Both those who are at risk (elderly or those having underlying health conditions) and those who pose a risk to others (showing symptoms or having been exposed to others showing symptoms within the last 14 days) are encouraged to remain in their homes and participate in the worship services on television or online.
In consideration of others, please do not attend if you have uncontrolled allergies, a common cold, or any other infirmity that would display the same symptoms as the coronavirus.
New Worship Schedule (temporary)
New morning service times are 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:30 a..m
Our evening service will remain broadcast/stream only at 6:00 p.m. (FM 94.1).
Due to our limited ability to social distance in classrooms, Bible Study/Sunday School and other activities will continue with online formats only.
Childcare will not be provided. Worship attenders are welcome to bring their children into the sanctuary (babies included).
GATHERING PRECAUTIONS AND SAFE PRACTICES
Safe distancing will be practiced, as family units will maintain six feet of space between themselves and the next worshiper. Every other pew, or row of balcony chairs, will remain vacant.
Safe distancing will be practiced in the hallways.
Elevators are to be used by only one household at a time.
We will have a “no hugs, no handshakes” policy.
The chapel will be available for overflow seating.
All in attendance are encouraged to bring their own face masks for both their protection and the protection of others.
The Fellowship Hall will be considered a safe zone, with masks required.
Children will stay seated with their families during Pastor’s Pals.
Enter for worship only through West (Harrison Street) and North (Preschool entrance) doors for all services. Exit only through East (Tyler Street) and Southeast (Rotunda/Fellowship Hall) doors.
Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the worship start time, as sanitizing teams will be working for your safety.
No valet parking, as this requires someone else to enter your vehicle.
No offering plate will be passed; offering will be taken at the doors.
Worshipers will be dismissed in an orderly fashion.
The entire housekeeping staff of FBC will be onsite for all services, serving as our sanitizing team, disinfecting all “high touch” surfaces between services.
FBC staff/ushers will assist with both seating and exiting the sanctuary.
No hymnals/pew Bibles will be used during this time.
Overflow space will be available in the fellowship hall (safe zone, mask required) and chapel (mask recommended) should we exceed a safe capacity in the sanctuary
FAMILY LIFE CENTER
Our Family Life Center will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, for exercise related activities only. These will include walking track, cardio room, gym (for individual walking) and weight room. Equipment will be spaced to ensure social distancing. Downstairs restrooms will be available, but upstairs locker rooms, showers, and sauna will reopen at a later date. Patrons are asked to abide by state recommendations of full hand coverage (gloves) and masks. Abbreviated hours will be 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, and 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Saturday. Since all activities will be in accordance with social distancing policies, we ask that participants limit their use to one hour per day. Thank you for your patience as we make the facility and equipment available to as many people as possible.
