A WORD FROM TOM...

“HE HAS SHOWN YOU, O MORTAL, WHAT IS GOOD.  AND WHAT DOES THE LORD REQUIRE OF YOU?  TO ACT JUSTLY AND TO LOVE MERCY AND TO WALK HUMBLY WITH YOUR GOD.” (MICAH 6:8)

A true sign of a “Man’s Man” is a firm handshake, one taught to many sons by their fathers.  (segue alert) Speaking of hands, a fellow by the name of Robert Wadlow (1918-1940) is said to have had the biggest hands in history.  His hands measured 12.75 inches from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger AND he wore a size 25 ring.  Of course, they probably did not look that big on a man who stood 8’11” tall while wearing size 37AA shoes, but… my point being… a man’s hands; from a pat on the back, to a gentle punch in the arm, to an “A-OK” sign, all the way to the fistfight – the uses of one’s hands say a lot about a man.

What has been said of the HANDS of God?

“…no man is able to pluck them (Christ-followers) out of my Father’s hand” (JOHN 10:29)

“Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.” (PSALM 139:10)

“There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor.  This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.” (ECCLESIASTES 2:24)

So, the next time you sense gentle, invisible pressure on your shoulders while the noise meter climbs inside your head, HANDS can do that, too.

I’ll be taking a two-week break now.  Let’s reconnect the first week of July.  At that time, these weekly, thoughtful words of encouragement will be moved to this page. Make sure you bookmark so we can stay in touch.

HELP TAKE ANOTHER BROTHER “UP” UNTIL THEN.
